ODYSSEY

ODYSSEY was born from a musical journey shaped by diverse cultures.

At its core is a trio — double bass, piano, and drums — in which the double bass becomes a fully-fledged solo instrument: rhythmic, percussive, melodic, and orchestral.

Driven by an expanded approach to the instrument, the project explores a rich and contrasting sonic palette, ranging from the rawest gestures to refined, cinematic textures. Musical languages intersect freely, without hierarchy, nourished by multiple influences and encounters.

Conceived as both an inner and geographical journey, ODYSSEY is in constant transformation. The trio’s energy serves as its anchor point, around which various formats revolve: duo, extended trio with guests, and even orchestral configurations.

SEUL CONTRE BASSE

This musical theatre piece tells the story of the initiatory journey of Adrien T., a fearful and solitary child who retreats into his cave, finding comfort in his only companion: his double bass, accomplice, friend, and rival — hence the title Seul Contre Basse.

At first a duo, then a duel, as the failure of any romantic relationship leads him to a desire to destroy this exclusive and jealous instrument. Condemned to exile, this cursed pair sets out to discover new lands, musicians, and landscapes. The double bass breaks free from its traditional role, transforming into a truly polymorphic instrument, embracing distant cultures and sounds.

He eventually finds his center, his truth, and, in harmony with the instrument, opens himself to the world at last.

Through a unique and immersive experience combining music, video, new technologies, poetry, dance, and theatre, Seul Contre Basse also reflects contemporary concerns. The original creations range from improvised to written music, from baroque instruments to electro-acoustic textures, from tradition to modernity.

DYAD

Didier Laloy and Adrien Tyberghein, two exceptional musicians, form a duo born from the desire to merge two seemingly opposing worlds: so-called “serious” music and “light” music.

Their duo dissolves stylistic boundaries by blending traditional music, classical music, rock, and electronic music. Their repertoire, made up of original compositions, reveals the full richness of their collaboration. From fiery rhythms to expressive melodies, these pieces transport the listener to the crossroads of multiple musical worlds.

Didier once dreamed of being able to shake a conductor’s hand as he walked on stage. Adrien dreamed of improvising on traditional themes from distant cultures. Their dreams have become reality within this atypical, visceral duo, deeply influenced by rock.
